Let's Talk About Good Girls Season 1
First off let's start with how honestly surprised I was at the level of casting in this show, blew me away. The story wasn't believable but don't let that turn you away from the show i was definitely invested in the characters and laughing the whole time. The shows a drama series featuring 3 suburban housewives played by a wonderful cast Christina Hendrick as Beth Boland, Retta as Ruby Hill, and Mae Whitman as Annie Marks that go on risky endeavors to attempt to save their families and lives that are falling apart. They get into a lot of antics trying to repair their lives during dark times, it's a comedic take on events that could happen to anyone. The show deals with love, cheating, money issues, and how far you will go for the people around you.

I went into it not wanting to like it, but i was pleasantly surprised, the show honestly kept me on my toes with some very suspenseful moments. These moments come as a surprise with the comedic tone that they keep up. Good Girls is a fun show tosses and turns between broad comedy and chilling violence with a bracing pace. Reminds me of shows like Braking Bad and Weeds, i am hoping it keeps up to that with all the potential it has. I thought the entire story was refreshing especially with the regular anti hero role being taken over by not just one but three women.
Beth's Marriage isn't an ideal situation whatsoever, her husband cheats and loses funds that put the entire family in debt. Ruby is struggling to keep her children alive and safe with a cop for a husband and a daughter who needs a new kidney due to hers losing all function. Annie is Beth's sister who also happens to be fighting a losing battle over the custody of her daughter who is unhappy and gets bullied to a point of desperation at her school for being gender fluid. Needless to say this shows truly how far parents would go to protect their families, no cost is too high. The stakes during the show are constantly being raised from the cost of losing money and freedom to losing their families and their own lives. Was definitely not the most advertised show I've seen which made it even more surprising when it happened to pop up on my Netflix feed, the cast immediately caught my eye and had me intrigued. The story starts out being told in a flash forward that snatches you up and keeps you there immediately.
The show gets straight to the point and once again has a somewhat nostalgic feeling from the times that i had been absolutely hooked while watching Breaking Bad and Weeds, gave me the exhilarating feeling of constantly wondering whats going to happen next. Overall i would push people in the direction of taking the time to watch it, laugh, and worry about these characters as if you were actually part of their world.
