Let's Talk About The Big Sick

While Emily is in the hospital Kumail is at the hospital the whole time, here is where he ends up meeting Emily's parents, after a while they grow on each other despite the slight racial ignorance from them as you see when Terry asked Kumail about 9/11. Events like these represent the cultural ignorance found in all over the world. The entire story of the film is based on the real life story of Kumail and Emily.

The real life story of the ups and downs, the difficulties of balancing a relationship. Families can disagree, religion can stand in your way but people will jump through hoops to make something good work. The Big Sick Revitalizes what you know about the romantic comedy sub genre, telling a 21st century story about life, love, and death. The film does all of this while facing the reality of cultural diversity and how it affects different generations through their own perspectives, for example a parents arranged relationship from their old country may not be what the next generation born and raised in America will lye down and take with acceptance.

The evolution of the characters happens to feel substantial and realistic especially due to the tragedy of death staring them all down. All perfectly done with honesty through all the big and large pieces of this traumatic era of their relationship. Even while Emily is in the hospital and can't speak her presence is still felt and represented and a fashion that lashes onto you. While Emily is in the hospital Kumail is forced to continue struggling with his day job and getting to no her parents out of the blue in such a dire situation. They add touches to the film like her mother bringing her childhood quilt to wrap her with while she is in her medically induced coma and the cramped waiting room make everything seem a lot more vivid. My only slight issue with the film is it goes slightly longer than it needs to.
Overall I would definitely take the time to check out the film, it will pull on all of you heart strings so to speak. Also the acting, portrayal of reality, and writing were definitely done right, the film will hold onto your attention even with the length despite if you know it's true or not. So take the time, check it out, i guarantee you won't be regretting The Big Sick anytime soon.
